The world’s tallest building
When you’re taking your Dubai Bus Tour you can’t help noticing something. Something unbelievably huge. That’s the Burj Khalifa. As the world’s tallest building it towers over Dubai, and is visible from just about everywhere in the city. To get a true sense of the scale you really have to lean back and look up.
The Burj Khalifa was originally named Burj Dubai, but during the opening ceremony its new name was revealed. It’s named in honour of HH. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of the United Arab Emirates.
We have lift off
Fancy travelling to one of the Burj Khalifa’s viewing platforms? We recommend taking the lift rather than the stairs. The lift only takes a minute to get you to the top. That’s incredible when you think of the distance involved, as the top is nearly a kilometre away. In fact, the lift travels at 64 kilometres an hour, or 18 metres a second!
Why not shop?
No landmark in Dubai would be complete without a spot of opulent shopping thrown in. So while you’re marvelling at the height of Burj Khalifa you can also feast your eyes at some of the exclusive stores and shops at Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping complex.
